Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By using AAS Studio (“the Service”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is operated by Miguel Reis (sole proprietor, Portugal).

2. Account & eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of majority in your country) and provide accurate registration information. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials.

3. Access

The Service is currently free to use during early access. We may introduce paid tiers in the future; if we do, existing users will be notified at least 30 days before any change takes effect.

4. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service for illegal purposes, including infringing third-party intellectual property.
• Attempt to bypass plan limits or rate-limit protections.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or scrape the Service beyond what is allowed by law.
• Upload content that contains malware, secrets, or personal data of EU residents you don't have lawful basis to process.
• Use the Service to spam, harass, or harm others.

5. Your content

You retain all rights to AAS files and PDFs you upload. You grant us a non-exclusive license to process them solely to provide the Service to you. We do not use your data to train AI models. You can delete your data at any time.

6. AI-generated output

AI extraction results are best-effort and require human review. The Service includes a Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) certification step for AI-generated AAS data, which embeds engineer initials and SHA-256 source hash in the AAS metadata. You are responsible for verifying AI output before relying on it for compliance purposes.

7. Service availability

We do not offer an availability commitment on any plan. AAS Studio is operated by one person, with no on-call rotation, and a monthly uptime figure written here would be a contractual promise backed by nothing. This clause stated 99.5% on paid plans until 2026-08-05. The browser-side editor functions offline and is unaffected by server outages, the CLI gate runs entirely offline, and a signed record can be verified without us. We may perform maintenance with reasonable notice. An availability commitment can be negotiated as part of a self-hosted engagement, where the infrastructure is under your control.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as-is” without warranties of any kind. AAS Studio assists with regulatory compliance but does not guarantee compliance. That is your responsibility. Always have your AAS files reviewed by qualified personnel before submitting them as part of EU Machinery, DPP, or CATENA-X declarations.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate access for violation of these terms with reasonable notice (immediate for severe violations).

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Lisbon, Portugal. EU consumers retain mandatory protections of their country of residence.

12. Changes

We may update these terms with 30 days notice for material changes.
